イギリス料理といえば、フィッシュアンドチップス！

でも皆さん不思議に思ったことはありませんか？

揚げた魚と一緒にお皿にのっているのは、チップスじゃなくてフライドポテトでは？と。

 

実は、イギリスでは、日本で言うフライドポテトをチップスといい、

日本でいうポテトチップスをクリスプスといいます。

 

イギリスで手に入る食材の中でも、日本より美味しいもののひとつにジャガイモが挙げられるのではないかと思うくらい、こちらで食べるジャガイモはホクホク、クリーミーで美味しいです。

種類も沢山あって、スーパーではばら売りから大きな袋入りまでさまざまです。

 

そして、イギリス人のクリスプス好きには目を見張るものがあります。

ランチをしているイギリス人を見てみてください。

大人でも子供でも、サンドイッチのお供にクリスプスを食べています。

日本だったら、ポテトチップスをお弁当に持っていったら怒られてしまいますね。

 

でも、イギリスでは、カフェやスーパーのサンドイッチコーナーには必ず、この小分けタイプのクリスプスが売られています。

さて、最後にイギリスで私が好きなクリスプスをご紹介します。

Speaking of the British specialty food Fish and chips!

Have you ever thought about this name as being strange?

Because there are what American people would call French fries beside the deep-fried fish on the dish.

Actually, people say "chips" for French fries in the UK and "chips " are called "crisps" in the UK.

I think one of the foods, which are tastier than the Japanese version in the UK, is potato.

Here,Potatoes are very creamy and flaky. 

There are many kinds of potatoes and you can chose potatoes in different sizes of bags.

And also, British people love crisps!!

Please take a look at people who are eating lunch.

Both adults and children eat sandwiches and crisps.

In Japan, if children bring crisps to the school, the teacher might scold them.

However, we can buy this small packet of crisps anywhere such as at cafes or supermarkets located near sandwiches.

Finally, I willintroduce my favorite crisps.

This is called "Kettle chips"

They are thicker and crunchier!!
